Getting Started

Downloading Ventrilo

Click on this link:

Scroll down the page until you see this section:



Click on the download button beside Windows i386 - 32bit.

This will bring up a download box, click open or save (depending on your internet browser) to start installing Ventrilo.

Go through the installation prompts as they come. Once Ventrilo has finished installing, look for the Ventrilo icon on your desktop to launch the program:






When Ventrilo opens up for the very first time, you'll see this screen:





Look for where it says User Name, then there is a drop down field, and then a small arrow at the far right, click on the little arrow on the far right:





A new screen will pop up:





Click the new button. Another window will pop up... put in your pirate name, in this case I am setting up Skellykitten's account:





Click the ok button and you'll be brought back to the Setup User window.
Click the ok button again to return to the main Ventrilo window.


Now click on the small arrow to the far right beside Server. The Connection Editor window will pop up:






Click the New button and this screen will apear:





Type in Death's Sin and click ok. You will return to the Connection Editor window, fill out the information as provided in the screenshot below ( when you enter in the password sinners, it will appear like this *******)





Click the Ok button. You'll be taken back to the original Ventrilo window and it should now look like this, EXCEPT that the user name will show YOUR pirate name and not Skellykitten :





Click the Connect button. You will now be connected to the Ventrilo voice chatroom. Your window will look like this:





How to talk in Ventrilo!

Click on the Setup button. The Setup window will appear.

1. Click the box beside Use Push-To-Talk Hotkey to put a check in the box.

2. Click in the field beside Hotkey and choose any key you want to set as your "mic" key. This means that you will have to push and hold down this key in order for other people to hear you chat in the room. We chose the F1 key because it doesn't get used in the game.

3. Click the Ok button






You will now be in the voice chat area. In order to speak over your mic, you must push and hold the key you selected for the Push to talk Hotkey. When you are holding that button to talk the volume icon button beside your name will turn from red to green:





You are now setup for our Ventrilo chat! If you have any problems come and talk to us and we will help you out!

curious, since i'm rather new to the crew--are we still using ventrilo? if so, is this information current, on where the server is?

i hope the crew still uses it...i've always wished there were voice chat during pillages and missions, it just seems a lot easier for the important stuff to be on a voice chat channel than in the chatbox.

we use vent as and when we feel like we want too! if theres anything important happning then we will use vent to co-ordante everyone but most of time we just use chatbox!
